Thanksgiving is all about spending time with your family and friends over a festive meal. If you’re hosting friends and family for dinner this year, Verity Group knows that you’re probably wanting to make this holiday feel extra special, which is why our team has taken the guesswork out of setting a welcoming Thanksgiving table by providing some valuable tips so that you won’t forget even the tiniest detail this holiday.

Before you start worrying over the small details, remember that there are many ways to set a stunning and welcoming table. With a few decorating basics, homemade (or semi-homemade!) food, and the best company, it’s sure to be a holiday to remember for everyone. Here are Verity Group’s top 6 ways to ensure that your Thanksgiving dinner is one that will be remembered for years to come.

  1. A holiday dinner table must be practical as it is beautiful. When choosing a centerpiece, make sure that it is set low so that all guests can see across the table. If you plan on serving food at the table, you’ll also want to make sure that you leave enough room for food dishes. We recommend staying away from strongly scented candles or flowers that will overpower the smell of the food that you just spent hours preparing. Try swapping traditional candles for flameless ones, and real stems for faux floral stems.

  2. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns, silverware, and glasses. Be creative with what you have on hand and use it in a variety of ways. Let your personality shine through in your unique style.

  3. Use a tablecloth and linen napkins to elevate the mood of Thanksgiving dinner. These can add a pop of color, texture, and elegance to your table to make it more inviting. While these items don’t need to be brand new, if your linens have been tucked away since last year, you’ll want to run them through the wash or touch up wrinkles with a steamer before setting your table for your guests.

  4. When placing the table, take time to polish or wipe down your silverware, glassware, and place settings to rid them of finger smudges or lipstick stains before your guests arrive. No one wants to eat or drink from a dirty dish!

  5. Give your guests plenty of room at the dinner table. If your table doesn’t have removable leaves to add or subtract seating, consider setting up another table or only invite the number of guests that you can comfortably seat.

  6. Take your table setting to the next level by using place cards. Let the kids have some fun with this project, or take to Pinterest for creative and unique place card inspiration.

Regardless of whether you’re hosting 2 or 20 this Thanksgiving, remember to have fun and enjoy the company of your loved ones while remembering the things that you are most grateful for.

The Verity Group wishes you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
