Summer is finally winding down and the children are headed back to school, but before we start welcoming fall festivals and cooler temperatures, Verity Group wants to make sure that we send off the summer with a BANG! If you've found yourself without plans for Labor Day Weekend, our team has your back! We've compiled a list of 5 things to do in the Hampton Roads area that will help you make the most of this last summer weekend.

1. Busch Gardens Bier Festival
September 3-6 | Noon to Park Close
1 Busch Gardens Blvd Williamsburg VA
The Busch Gardens Bier Fest is back in Williamsburg, Virginia for 2021, bringing over 200 years of Oktoberfest traditions to life with the added bonus of all your favorite coasters and attractions. With over 100+ brews tapped throughout the park, you won’t want to miss this chance to relax and enjoy the final weeks of summer in the park. Enjoy brewery talks from local craft breweries, popular local bands, and fireworks Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night through September 6th. The Bier Festival is included with any park admission with food and beverage available for separate purchases.

2. Downtown Norfolk First Fridays
September 3 | 5 to 8 PM
Downtown Norfolk
First Fridays are bigger than ever this year as the event added a whole new neighborhood to the fun! Enjoy local restaurants and other various vendors while listening to live music and entertainment and roaming the streets of Downtown Norfolk. This year, thanks to a new ABC license, guests are free to roam the 16-block party with a drink in hand in the bubble of Main Street to Bute Street to east Monticello Avenue to west Boush Street. Admission is free with food and beverage available for additional purchase.

3. Tidewater Blues Festival
September 4 | 12 to 6 PM
Big Ugly Brewing Chesapeake
The third annual Tidewater Blues Festival will be held at Big Ugly Brewing Company in Chesapeake over Labor Day Weekend. Enjoy a free live music blues concert and a Blues Boy Willie harmonica workshop hosted by Pat Seay. Admission is free and Blackwater BBQ food truck will also be on site.

4. Symphony Under the Stars
September 5 | 6 to 9 PM
Chesapeake City Park
Bring your own chair or blanket and listen to classic, pop, and jazz music live from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra on the Bagley Stage. Parking and concessions start at 6 PM and a variety of food trucks will be available for an evening picnic at the park. Admission is free and on-site parking is available. Visit the City of Chesapeake website for more information.

5. Brunch In The Park
September 5 | 11 AM to 3 PM
Mount Trashmore Park, Virginia Beach
Come tempt your taste buds with cuisines from some of Hampton Roads’ best food trucks and caterers OR bring your own tasty treats to enjoy, as the park celebrates the final days of summer. BYO lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy unbeatable views of one of Virginia Beach’s largest parks. Admission is $10, and children 14 and younger are free.
