Lisabelén Sánchez

Real Estate Agent

It was Christmas in California, 2002, and her uncle said it the way family says things. Plainly, without much ceremony, in the middle of a conversation about something else. You have the personality for this. You should look at real estate. He had been a broker in Huntington Beach for decades and he was not a man who handed out compliments to fill silence. Lisabelén Sánchez flew home to Virginia, thought about it for a while, and earned her license the following year. Twenty-three years later, she still thinks about how casually the whole thing started. Before real estate there was Rialto, California, where she grew up, and San Diego State, where she went to school, and then a first career in the semiconductor industry selling internationally to clients in Japan, England, France, and Germany. She learned something there that transferred cleanly into this business. A transaction is almost never really about the product. It is about whether the person on the other side of the table believes what you are telling them.

She came to Hampton Roads in 1999 when her then husband, a Navy pilot, was stationed here. She has been a military spouse for thirty years combined, which means she has packed a house she loved, moved children mid school year, and stood in an empty living room in a state she did not choose yet. Military relocation is not a specialty she studied. It is a life she has lived, more than once, from the inside. The lesson that shaped how she works came from her own first home purchase. Their agent moved them through it quickly. The disclosures got skimmed. The contract got summarized. Nobody slowed down long enough to ask whether the two of them actually understood what they were signing. They closed, and they were fine, and she never forgot the feeling of being handed something that mattered without being taught how to read it. She decided then that if she ever did this work, no client of hers would sign a page they could not explain back to her in their own words. That is still the standard. It has not moved. Lisabelén was licensed in 2003, stepped away from the business in 2013, and came back to it in 2022. She does not apologize for the years in between. They gave her perspective that a straight run never would have, and she returned knowing exactly why she wanted to.

What she does best: Military and PCS relocation, luxury and waterfront homes, and buyers who need more than a search link. She is particularly good at the transactions other agents find complicated. Finding the right piece of land and helping a client hire the right builder to put a house on it. Walking a relocating family through a market they have never seen, sometimes from another time zone. Opening her Rolodex of contractors, inspectors, and specialty vendors so a client is not calling strangers on the internet at nine at night. Some agents hand you a house. Lisabelén hands you the people who will take care of it.

Where she works: North Suffolk is home and it is where she knows the ground best. Harbour View, Riverfront, Governor's Pointe, Cedar Point, Eclipse, Bob White Landing, and Quail Cove Estates, where the coastal high end of Suffolk quietly rivals anything across the water. She works Norfolk with the same familiarity, especially Ghent, Larchmont, Lochhaven, Algonquin Park, Belvedere, and Meadowbrook. She serves buyers and sellers throughout Hampton Roads, including Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Isle of Wight County, and Smithfield. She understands why people keep choosing this region. The military presence is enormous and families stationed here would rather own than rent, especially with the rental market as tight as it is. Beyond that, Hampton Roads is genuinely diverse in a way that lets very different people build very different lives inside the same forty-five minutes of highway.

What she believes: Integrity is not a value she lists, it is the one she measures herself against. She treats a two hundred thousand dollar purchase with the same seriousness as a million dollar one, because the family buying it is not living a smaller life. Verity means truth. Lisabelén will tell you when a house is wrong for you, when a price is wrong for the market, and when waiting is the smarter play, and she will tell you before it costs you anything. She will also admit that she gets attached. She cares about her clients more than the job strictly requires, and she has stopped treating that as a flaw. What her clients tend to say when it is over is that they did not just find a house. They found a forever friend.

Outside the work: Lisabelén and her husband Marcus are unapologetic foodies who will drive an hour for a restaurant neither of them can pronounce. Travel is her real passion, and she has built her sense of home partly out of noticing how other people build theirs. She is getting back into golf. Between them they have three daughters, Amanda, Jenna, and Sofia, and the house is quieter now than it used to be with only one of them still under the roof. She gives her time and her heart to the Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking, a cause she does not talk about casually.

Working alongside her at The Verity Group, one of the top producing teams in Hampton Roads, she has the marketing, the data, and the bench behind her that this market demands. But the part she wants you to know is simpler than any of that. Your needs come first. Every time, in every price range, in every market. Call her. She will pick up.
